Kalamazoo, Mich. – The Kalamazoo Public Library, 315 S. Rose St., would like to remind all aspiring teen filmmakers that the deadline to submit their films for the 10th Annual Teen Filmmaker Festival is Saturday, Jan. 19!
Do you like to direct hilarious teen comedies, create amazing animation, or produce breathtaking action scenes? Then submit your films to the 10th Annual Teen Filmmaker Festival! Films must be created by teens (aged 13-18) who live in Michigan. Films may be no more than 10 minutes long. Teens may submit more than one film. There is no fee to participate but an entry form must accompany each film. Applicants must complete an entry form for each film entered. Please submit entries to Teen Services, Kalamazoo Public Library, 315 S. Rose St., 49007 by 5 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013. Films should be submitted as DVDs or full-quality QuickTime video files on USB flash media. All other formats (including VHS, Window Media files, low-quality QuickTime files, etc.) will be automatically disqualified. DVDs must be formatted for NTSC Region 1 (North America) and labeled with the film’s running time, and director(s) name(s). Please double-check that your DVD plays your entire film on standard consumer DVD players.
A jury will review every film entered and select festival finalists. Not every film submitted will be selected for screening at the festival. Filmmakers will be notified if their film has been selected by email on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013. Titles of selected films will also be posted to the Facebook page. Festival finalists will be screened on Sunday, Feb. 24 at 2:30 p.m. at the Kalamazoo State Theatre, 404 S. Burdick St., 49007.
