Kalamazoo County Expo Center hosts show Aug. 18
Kalamazoo, Mich. — Twenty-one years ago, the gun show was nothing more than a few Daisy BB gun collectors in the backyard of a home in Swartz Creek.
Today, it boasts more than 100 tables of BB guns, airguns of all makes and models and toy guns.
The Kalamazoo Airgun Show & Daisy Get Together is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18 at the Kalamazoo County Fairground Expo Center in Kalamazoo, Mich. Admission is $3, free for children younger than 12 with an adult, and early admission at 7:30 a.m. is $25.
This year, there will be a free, public Slingshot Shoot from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., where people can shoot targets with paintballs and potentially win a prize. Also, this year’s featured maker is the Columbian Air Rifles, which are large, heavy, impressive-looking guns with ornate, cast iron receivers.
The show welcomes all types of airguns from antique to modern. Last year, collectors from approximately 16 states attended the show. The show has been sold out every year, and the organizers expect the same for the 2013 show.
