Kalamazoo Singers' Holiday Concert
321 W. South Street
Kalamazoo, MI 49007 (269) 373-1769
Now in its 41st season, the Kalamazoo Singers is an audition-only choral ensemble of approximately 50 voices and comprised of some of the finest singers and soloists in the area.
The Mission of the Kalamazoo Singers is to " inspire and enrich the community through quality choral programming", through a wide spectrum of traditional, classical and contemporary repertoire. They perform three concerts each season, along with outreach and other free events.
Beginning as a chorus for "Madame Butterfly" with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra/Michigan Opera in 1976, the chorus soon formed into the Kalamazoo Singers organization, under the direction of Mel Ivey. Thomas Kasdorf took over the helm in 1979 and continued leading the group until his retirement in 2006.
Currently under the direction of Rick Phelps, the Kalamazoo Singers continue to draw enthusiastic audiences with a repertoire that is diverse and accessible to residents of all ages from throughout the Kalamazoo Community and beyond.
