Kalamazoo, Mich. — Master mixologist Angie Jackson, a.k.a. “The Traveling Elixir Fixer,” shows you how to make her signature Kalamazoo drink “I’ve Got A Gal” (named after Glenn Miller Orchestra’s 1943 hit, “I’ve Got A Gal In Kalamazoo”)!

Angie describes the drink like this: “It’s bold, it’s confident, it’s a little sweet with a little spice – just like all gals from Kalamazoo!”

• 2 Ounces Journeyman White Rye Whiskey
• 1 Ounce Simple Syrup (combine 2 parts sugar & 1 part water in a sauce pan; bring to a boil on the stove; let cool)
• 1/2 Ounce Fresh-Squeezed Lime Juice
• 1 1/4 Ounces Pineapple Juice
• Small Piece Of Habanero Pepper
• Ice

• Boston Shaker
• Mixing Glass
• Muddler
• Citrus Press
• Hawthorn Strainer
• Cocktail Glass
• Measuring Cup

You can find Angie at Old Dog Tavern in downtown Kalamazoo Wednesday-Saturday nights.

Angie taught mixology at the collegiate level, worked the Chicago bar scene for about a dozen years, has developed many restaurant and bars’ cocktail programs, published multiple cocktail recipes, is a tasting consultant for distilleries, and has served drinks to countless celebrities including the Obamas and Faith Hill & Tim McGraw.
