Kalamazoo, Mich. — The Kalamazoo County Expo Center is pleased to announce that the Woods-N-Water News Outdoor Weekend West will be coming to Kalamazoo on Sept. 20-22, 2013.
This new event is an offshoot of the Woods-N-Water News Outdoor Weekend held in Imlay City for the past 26 years that draws nearly 20,000 outdoor experts fishing seminars, livethe Expo Center. It will61,000 square feet of indoor exhibit space along with outdoor event outdoor enthusiasts from around the state of Michigan. The newly-expanded Kalamazoo Expo Center provides an ideal location.
The Outdoor Weekend West will feature a hands-on family outdoor theme. Visitors will find exhibitors with outdoor retail items ranging from boats to bows, hunting equipment to fishing poles, RVs to ATVs and most anything else you may need for the outdoors in southwest Michigan. Hunting and fall fishing seminars from some of Michigan’s top outdoor personalities and experts will also be a big part of the event.
The annual show has made a long-term commitment to being in Kalamazoo and intends to grow the event into one of the larger events held at the Expo Center. It will include several hundred exhibitors and many different activities by soliciting the help of the many fine outdoor clubs and organizations in the Kalamazoo area.
“Last year we drew thousands of outdoor enthusiasts to the Outdoor Weekend at the Eastern Michigan State Fairgrounds,” says Randy Jorgensen, President of Woods-N-Water News. “We were asked by the Kalamazoo County Expo Center and Discover Kalamazoo to consider bringing the Outdoor Weekend to Kalamazoo. We were impressed with the facility and thought the Outdoor Weekend concept would be very well received in Kalamazoo, so we decided this was a project we wanted to do.”
The Kalamazoo County Expo Center completed a 36,000 square foot expansion project in 2011. The 90,000 square foot Expo Center offers indoor exhibit space along with outdoor event space. The goal of the Expo Center’s expansion was to attract events like the Outdoor Weekend that will have a significant positive economic impact on Kalamazoo County.
