USTA BOYS’ 18 & 16 NATIONAL TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS

The United States Tennis Association (USTA) Boys’ 18 & 16 National Championships draws the top 400 tennis players to Kalamazoo each August for a 10-day event with champions crowned in singles and doubles competitions.

2ND ANNUAL LINCOLN HOMECOMING

The Second Annual Lincoln Homecoming, August 10 – 14, 2016, Hickory Corners, sponsored by our Lincoln Motor Car Heritage Museum (LMCHM), located on the Gilmore Car Museum grounds along with other automotive museums. The LMCHM will be the center point for this meet and will be hosted by the Road Race Lincoln Register.

Events feature an All-Lincoln car show, car corral, swap meet, and auction. Plus two banquets and more for members.

Non-members are welcome to join at the event.

FARES AND SQUARES: THE HISTORY OF CHECKER MOTORS

For six decades, Checker cabs, with their iconic black and white checkered detailing, were synonymous with taxi service in America’s cities, and those cabs were built right here in Kalamazoo. Fares and Squares: The History of Checker Motors explores the company’s history and features a 1923 taxi on loan from the Gilmore Car Museum.

This show (10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.) is open to all owners of 1990 or earlier vehicles of Ford Motor Company products. Bring your Lincoln, Ford, Edsel, Mercury, hot rod or custom car. We all would like to see it on the show field, to be enjoyed and admired by all in attendance on Sunday. Show participation is free with paid Gilmore Car Museum Admission. Vehicles must be parked on the show field between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

SOUTHWEST MICHIGAN BALLROOM DANCE

Kalamazoo Ballroom Academy will teach the flowing steps of the Foxtrot at 2:30 p.m. followed by general dancing from 3:30 to 6 p.m.  DJ Dan Stratton will play popular and ballroom music.  All levels of dancers, beginners, couples and singles welcome.  A free dance lesson will also be raffled.
