Kalamazoo, Mich. – Thursday might feel a bit like Hollywood around Kalamazoo.

As part of a Pure Michigan film project, two Michigan-born men Jeff Barrett and Rob Bliss are embarking on a road trip throughout Michigan to hit 50 cities in one week. The duo is cruising the state in an “Imported from Detroit” Chrysler and will be in Kalamazoo and Portage Thursday.

Barrett and Bliss — whose firm Status Creative is behind last year’s Grand Rapids LipDub, which was the national winner for Best Use Of Video in Social Media from PRNewswire — are creating an energetic digital video that highlights various things Michigan has to offer. The video will help tell the story of Michigan as a great place to live, work, play and build a business. The film journey began Sunday, Aug. 19 and continues through Aug. 26. The video is slated to debut Sept. 10, 2012, according to Bliss.

“We are excited Kalamazoo and Portage have both been selected to be featured in this video,” said Greg Ayers, president of Discover Kalamazoo. “The Pure Michigan brand continues to be an integral component in marketing our destination to potential visitors.  Increasing awareness of reasons to discover our area will only help generate more visitors to the Kalamazoo region.”
