Ubeercross Bike Tours
It all started back in 2007 with two adventurous beer loving bicycle riding buddies living in two cities both harboring great Michigan Breweries. Their dream was connect to their home cities of Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids using a route following historical style cyclocross riding of climbing fences and a lot of mud. With a ton of trial and error the route was discovered albeit full of trespassing along power lines.
The first event drew around thirty riders. Five hours to six hours later nearly the entire group had made the grueling mud sucking 60 miles. Since then, not without future incident, Ubeercross rides have included several other area breweries, but now only follow legal thoroughfares.
Although riding bicycles while intoxicated is strongly discouraged, Ubercross is all about riding bikes and enjoying Michigan Craft Beer. The rides are fairly strenuous distances and best suited for riders who are experienced riding the listed distances of the tour.
Ubeercross Bike Tours are the collaboration of two of Michigan’s many fine resources-Bicycling, and Michigan Craft Beer. Many of Michigan’s Breweries are within a day or less bicycle ride from one another connected by quiet safe back roads. The goal of every Ubeercross Tour is to find the quietest yet most efficient bicycle route from point to point. Ubeercross is not a race, but a ride at your own pace tour. Distances, a map, crude route marking, and sag support is provide but riders are expected to ride the entire route.
