RECREATIONAL MARIJUANA USAGE & RULES IN MICHIGAN

The Michigan Regulation and Taxation of Marijuana Act (Proposal 1) was passed by the voters of the state of Michigan on November 6, 2018.

 

WHAT IS THE MICHIGAN REGULATION AND TAXATION OF MARIJUANA ACT?

The “yes” vote supported legalizing the recreational use and possession of marijuana for persons 21 years of age or older and enacting a tax on marijuana sales.

WHEN WILL RETAILERS BEGIN TO SELL MARIJUANA IN MICHIGAN?

The Michigan State Legislature and the state Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) are responsible for determining when sales begin. However, LARA has until December 6, 2019 to begin accepting applications for stores.
