The welcome mat will be out for bicyclists throughout the spectacular inaugural Fall Bike Celebration weekend (September 20-22, 2019), featuring a Ride with fantastic routes through the beautiful Southwest Michigan countryside centered in the charming Village of Vicksburg during the day, plus a separate charity fundraising Awards & Recognition Dinner that Saturday evening.  The Celebration is organized by Bike Friendly Kalamazoo (BFK), a 501c3 organization of volunteers working to make our greater community even more bike friendly.

Featured attractions in Vicksburg on Friday include a top-rated disc golf course, a fascinating a downtown historical lecture and walking tour of the “mysterious*” Vicksburg Quilt Trail paintings, a preview of the massive entertainment complex at The Mill, a Farmers Market right next to the lovingly restored Vicksburg Historic Village, an Ice Cream Social and live musical entertainment.

Saturday is dedicated to Fall Bike Celebration Ride from 7:00am-3pm.  All routes start & finish at Vicksburg Middle School. Registration is at the Vicksburg Middle School and opens at 7:00am.  The routes include SAG support with water, food, snacks and treats at various destination and at the start/finish. Route maps will be provided. Camaraderie and smiles all around are a sure thing.  Saturday evening culminates with a community oriented Awards & Recognition Dinner in Parchment where volunteers, civic leaders and the bike community will come together to celebrate the accomplishments of a community of advocates and enthusiasts.  The Dinner is a celebration, wrapped up with awards to honor those who care about making our greater community even more bicycle friendly.

  • Shipshewana* (115km; 71 miles; Latest Start: 8:00am)
  • Climax* (38 miles; Latest Start: 9:30am)
  • Scotts Mill Park* (24 miles; Latest Start: 10am)
  • Vicksburg Quilt Trail North and South (Loops; 16 miles each; Start: 9am; Latest Start: noon)
  • Kids ‘n’ Cruisers (Bike Parade) Path Route Vicksburg Middle School
    (Decoration: 12:30-1pm; Departure: 1 pm sharp Finish: by 1:30pm if all goes well)
  • BFK’s first-ever Public Bike Art Prize award, presented on Sunday.
  • Family Trail Route (5 miles; Suggested unescorted route timing: 11a-noon)
    Escorted Family Trail Route (2-3 pm)
