Kalamazoo, Mich. — I’ve spotted this man at many of Kalamazoo’s fancy events and locations. Finally, I got to meet him.

I was at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts during “Art and All That Jazz” and armed with my camera. Luckily, this 70-some year old man who rocks a wispy Mohawk was there, too.

After I told him about the People of Kalamazoo project, and how he’d been a sort of inspiration for the whole thing, he happily showed off his locks.

Not surprisingly, he’s a man of many talents. Here’s a glimpse of his business card:

• Massage Therapist
• Marriage Instructor
• Marriage Officiant
• Fiddler
• Poet
• Chef
• Artist
• Kayaker
• Philosopher

People of Kalamazoo is a way to encounter the vibrant, fun and interesting humans who make up this beautiful community. They are both residents and visitors of Kalamazoo, who were discovered while they were simply enjoying our town.
