His career path has followed the footsteps of Julius Stulberg, who impacted many generations of musicians and continues to do so through the Stulberg International String Competition that takes place annually in Kalamazoo.

The Irving S. Gilmore Foundation creates some of the most unique and significant awards for pianists anywhere in the world, as well as a biennial piano festival to celebrate keyboard music.
