Fifteen years ago, Andrew Koehler came to Kalamazoo and has seen over the years how Kalamazoo is an extraordinary place for the arts. Not only with the world class artists that perform here, but having so many great local artists that call Kalamazoo home. His career path has followed the footsteps of Julius Stulberg, who impacted many generations of musicians and continues to do so through the Stulberg International String Competition that takes place annually in Kalamazoo.
The Irving S. Gilmore Foundation creates some of the most unique and significant awards for pianists anywhere in the world, as well as a biennial piano festival to celebrate keyboard music.
